| Newsletter Club
Newsletter Club offers young journalists to take place in a school-wide newspaper, Pioneer Times. Students participate in Club time once a week and they bring their own ideas to share with the other club members. They do interviews with the teachers, principal and the other students. They collect data for the surveys that show what students think about ongoing events. Being a team work, newsletter is typed, printed and distributed by the club members. Every month, all the students and the parents can get the hottest news from Pioneer Times.
Photography
In this club, students are given the opportunity to take pictures in many different genres. Some of these include flowers, clouds, portrait, and mostly outdoor photographs. Students get to learn the basic techniques and terminology of photography. As the photography club, we’ll open a photography exhibition with the pictures which are taken by the students.
Creative Writing
Mrs. Flanigan, the English teacher for grades 4-8, supervises the Creative Writing Club. In this club, students are given the opportunity to experience writing in many different forms. Some of these include Round Robin Story Games, comics, short stories, group stories, poems, and plays. Students also get to illustrate their various writings and share their writings not only with other club members, but also with other grades. Students in the Creative Writing Club wrote Scary Stories to share with students in Grades K-3. Though Mrs. Flanigan guides the students and gives constructive criticism, it is the students who decide what to write and how they will work, together or individually.

Chess
Chess club is on every Tuesday for learning chess and the other board games and also for having fun. At the beginning of the year many of us did not know how to play chess. Thanks to our teachers we learned playing chess very quickly.
In chess club, playing chess is not the only thing that we do. We also play checkers, Chinese checkers and many other board games. In addition to that this year we solve Sudoku and many other puzzles. While having fun we have brain storming that makes us think about critical moves.
We have competitions in the chess club. We are preparing ourselves for the chess tournaments in Cherry Hill and in New Jersey. Chess club is full of fun and we learn a lot. |
